Updated 3 November 2026

Short answer: divide the number of stitches by the fabric count. 100 stitches on 14-count Aida is 7.1 inches (18 cm) wide. Then add 3 inches (7.5 cm) on every side for framing.

How much fabric to cut

Add 3 inches (7.5 cm) on every side, so 6 inches to each measurement. A 100 × 120 stitch pattern on 14-count is 7.1 × 8.6 inches, so cut fabric at least 13 × 15 inches.
